Breaking News : Jimmy Anderson becomes first England player in history to take 500 Test wickets

Jimmy Anderson has become the first England player in history to take 500 Test wickets.
The fast bowler clean bowled Kraigg Brathwaite to send Lord's into wild scenes of celebrations and leaves the Windies on 6/1 in their second innnings.
The Lancashire paceman was on 497 ahead of the first day of the third Test against the West Indies and took the three scalps he required to reach the historic landmark.
He becomes the sixth player in the history of the sport to reach 500 wickets, after Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne, Anil Kumble, Glenn McGrath and Courtney Walsh.
Anderson had Kraigg Braithwaite dropped early on day one by Alastair Cook, who had failed to snaffle his last three catches at first slip before clinging on to a catch off Toby Roland-Jones later in the day.

Kyle Hope was No.499

But Brathwaite's stay of execution wasn't too long as he nicked Anderson through to Jonny Bairstow behind the stumps.
After a rain delay, Kyle Hope became victim No.499, trying to leave an Anderson delivery but catching the edge with Bairstow again taking the grab.

Anderson took five wickets in an innings on debut against Zimbabwe in 2003
Anderson and Broad, England's top two wicket takers, celebrate winning the Ashes in 2015

Anderson is comfortably England's record wicket taker, clear of partner in crime Stuart Broad who started the third Test on 386 scalps.
