An expat mum and daughter have been arrested on Majorca as alleged “masterminds” of a food poisoning scam.
Marina homes and a sports bar linked to Debbie Cameron, 59, and her daughter Laura Joyce, 38, were raided by Spanish police this week.
The pair, who have lived on the Balearic Island for 35 years, are suspected of trying to persuade Brit tourists to lie about illnesses.
Among seven people arrested, they deny involvement and are due in court today in the capital Palma. The women run lifestyle and leisure firms and live in Puerto Portals.
Officers also searched premises in Bendinat and San Agustin.
UK no-win, no-fee lawyers are blamed by hoteliers for “fake” claim cases rising 700% year on year.
Mrs Cameron left Romford in Essex for Majorca at the age of 24.
Mrs Joyce, a married mum of two, helps promote a skincare range. Days ago, she denied any link to another alleged £4million scam.
Her husband Stuart Joyce, whose sports bar Heroes was searched, said: “We’re not saying anything.”
