Three suspects have been arrested in connection to the killings in Plateau villages over the weekend that left scores of persons dead.
According to Premium Times, the Special Military Task Force, “Operation Safe Haven’ paraded the suspects in Jos alongside 14 others, who were arrested for what the military called recent “civil unrest” in the state.
The spokesman of the taskforce, Umar Adams said of the three suspects, two were Fulani herdsmen, and one from Berom, one of the ethnic groups in Plateau state battling over grazing rights. Adams said they were arrested with sophisticated rifles.
“We all know that some days back, some villages in Barkin Ladi were attacked and these three suspects were arrested in connection with that. As our men were repelling the attacks in those areas, we arrested these suspects with four rifles, three locally made guns and one AK47,” Adams said, adding that more arrests will be made as investigations continue.
